...By Joy
Ingredients:
11/2 cups besan
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1/3 cup poppy seeds
1/4 cup ground black pepper(optional)
1/3rd cup grated ginger
1 1/2 stick of butter
1/2 to 1 cup jaggery or sugar as per taste.
1/4 cup water if needed.
Method:
Heat the skillet or a pan on the stove. As the skillet or the pan gets hot put the stick of butter and let it melt. When the butter has melted add the besan flour to it. You have to keep stirring this mixture, until all the flour gets greased, and gets roasted to a little darker hue. But it does not turn darker brown or black. You would get the smell of the roasted flour.Take the flour our of the pan, and put it in bigger mixing bowl. Then roast the sesame seeds and poppy seeds, until they turn light brown. Put those on top of the flour in the bowl. Add ground black pepper to it if you want to.Put 1/2 stick of butter in the pan, on the stove, add jaggery or sugar to it. Also add the grated ginger, and stirr the mixture until the jaggery or the sugar melts, and the ginger gets cooked soft like the murombo. Add this mixture to the flour. Then grease both your palms with the butter or ghee, and kneed the dough while still hot or more warmer. It forms a smooth paste dough. Add water only if you need, you should do without it. Cut the dough into equal 1 to 11/2 inch sizes, and roll it into small balls. Murombo balls or Murombo lasso is are ready.
